This grouping comes from the estate of a former Miami area mayor. Some of the auction highlights include an About Uncirculated example of the 1853 $20 .900 Assay, as well as numerous high grade Classic Commemoratives. There are also some rare Chinese coins represented in this auction with numerous gold and platinum Unicorns and Pandas. Lastly there are some interesting coins from the Pobjoy Mint and a 5 ounce Gold Angle of which only 94 were ever minted. Many of the graded coins come in older generation PCGS and NGC holders with some in the hard to fine Rattler holders. Property of “The Bass Museum Of Art” is sold to benefit the acquisitions fund. Also incorporated in the interesting sale is “The Estate of a Tycoon”. One of your best auctions to date! Providing a wonderful variety of items of fine quality. A collection of Edward Farmer mounted Chinese jade and fine Japanese cloisonne will be offered to the public as well as rare art glass from a Tycoon’s estate. A large selection of modern and contemporary master prints and original works of art from the Bass Museum provide a rare opportunity to acquire museum pieces at obtainable price levels.

Fine selection of Nippon / Porcelain, Art Glass, Cut Crystal, Collectibles ( Hat pins etc.), Art (Carved Carousel Horses etc) and so much more!! Of the numerous items of interest in this auction we would be remiss if we did not point out the rare and wonderful example of Tiffany & Co. art glass with elaborate and unusual silver mounts. The bulbous glass body features iridescent thread-like applied glass decoration on a gourd-shaped form. It has a sterling silver footed base as well as a sterling silver dotted and flared neck. Another lot worthy of note is the particularly nice example of Nippon porcelain with shimmering coralene decoration. There is much to get excited about in the category of Nippon ware but this piece, in particular, is exceptionally fine. It features a tapered body with blue, yellow, and pink gradient ground and coralene white flowers and foliage. The neck and the base have cobalt blue ground accented in gilt designs. We are pleased to continue with offerings from a prominent Florida coin and currency collector. One of the many great currency offerings one notable exception it the rare, large size, United States National Currency $10 bill. This happens to be the only known example of this variety of this particular note. It comes from the First National Bank Of North East Pennsylvania, series 1882, Charter Number 4927.

We are pleased to present our “Spring Into Auction” sale beginning March 27th at 6:00 pm (EST). This eclectic miscellany brings to the market a plethora of unique and exciting pieces from relevant local collections including many from the private collection of one esteemed Coral Gables couple. A husband and wife team with vastly differing tastes, nevertheless, a shared keenness for quality. For decades, they scoured antique shows, auctions and specialty dealers to acquire the hidden gems. A selection of items hail from such prominent jewelers as Cartier, Tiffany & Co., H. Stern, and Kurt Wayne to name a few. Beyond jewels, we are excited to offer a medley of beautiful acoustic and electric guitars from Gretsch, Gibson, Lowden and others…some which were used in the creation and recording of music by The Stephen Palmer Band.

November 2016: The Bass Museum & Private Collections

The Bass Museum of Art was founded in 1964 through the donation of a private collection by John and Johanna Bass to the City of Miami Beach. Designer of iconic resorts such as The Fontainebleau, Eden Roc and Americana, Morris Lapidus helped define the MiMo look. His buildings with neo-baroque interiors enticed visitors with luxurious visions of vacation resort life. You will not want to miss the opportunity be a part of the history by acquiring any of a number of rare architectural elements; all designed by Mr. Lapidus for his personal Miami Estate. These items were installed at The Bass as part of the 2007 exhibit, “Promises of Paradise,” which later toured museums throughout the country; renewing interest in the architectural treasures of Miami.
