The Bass Museum of Art was founded in 1964 through the donation of a private collection by John and Johanna Bass to the City of Miami Beach. Property of “The Bass Museum Of Art” is sold to benefit the acquisitions fund. Also incorporated in the interesting sale is another Miami Beach Estate. Property of “The Bass Museum Of Art” is sold to benefit the acquisitions fund. Also incorporated in the interesting sale is “The Estate of a Tycoon”. One of your best auctions to date! Providing a wonderful variety of items of fine quality. A collection of Edward Farmer mounted Chinese jade and fine Japanese cloisonne will be offered to the public as well as rare art glass from a Tycoon’s estate. September 2017: Hill 2017 Season Opener

Fine selection of Nippon / Porcelain, Art Glass, Cut Crystal, Collectibles ( Hat pins etc.), Art (Carved Carousel Horses etc) and so much more!! Of the numerous items of interest in this auction we would be remiss if we did not point out the rare and wonderful example of Tiffany & Co. art glass with elaborate and unusual silver mounts. The bulbous glass body features iridescent thread-like applied glass decoration on a gourd-shaped form. It has a sterling silver footed base as well as a sterling silver dotted and flared neck. Another lot worthy of note is the particularly nice example of Nippon porcelain with shimmering coralene decoration. There is much to get excited about in the category of Nippon ware but this piece, in particular, is exceptionally fine. It features a tapered body with blue, yellow, and pink gradient ground and coralene white flowers and foliage. The neck and the base have cobalt blue ground accented in gilt designs. We are pleased to continue with offerings from a prominent Florida coin and currency collector. One of the many great currency offerings one notable exception it the rare, large size, United States National Currency $10 bill. This happens to be the only known example of this variety of this particular note. It comes from the First National Bank Of North East Pennsylvania, series 1882, Charter Number 4927.

A husband and wife team with vastly differing tastes, nevertheless, a shared keenness for quality. For decades, they scoured antique shows, auctions and specialty dealers to acquire the hidden gems. A selection of items hail from such prominent jewelers as Cartier, Tiffany & Co., H. Stern, and Kurt Wayne to name a few. Beyond jewels, we are excited to offer a medley of beautiful acoustic and electric guitars from Gretsch, Gibson, Lowden and others…some which were used in the creation and recording of music by The Stephen Palmer Band. Our remarkable assortment of Judaica includes two offerings from the master craftsmen at Swed Workshop, and several from Hazorfim. November 2016: The Bass Museum & Private Collections

The Bass Museum of Art was founded in 1964 through the donation of a private collection by John and Johanna Bass to the City of Miami Beach. Designer of iconic resorts such as The Fontainebleau, Eden Roc and Americana, Morris Lapidus helped define the MiMo look. His buildings with neo-baroque interiors enticed visitors with luxurious visions of vacation resort life. You will not want to miss the opportunity be a part of the history by acquiring any of a number of rare architectural elements; all designed by Mr. Lapidus for his personal Miami Estate. These items were installed at The Bass as part of the 2007 exhibit, “Promises of Paradise,” which later toured museums throughout the country; renewing interest in the architectural treasures of Miami. From various other fine estate collections… Mid-Century Modern furnishings from: Paul Evans; Philip and Kelvin Laverne; and, several other prominent designers. Fine estate jewelry from: Tiffany & Co, Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels; including a GIA certified natural pearl necklace. Vintage men’s wrist watches from: IWC, Rolex and Le Coultre. September 2016: The Palm Beach Estate Antique To Modernism

Hill Auction would like to happily announce our upcoming sale taking place on September 28th 2016 at 6pm EST. Included in this auction we are offering a wide variation of fine pieces ranging from antique to modernism. One of the featured items we will be presenting for sale is a colossal Romero Britto original pop art painting lot #154. This amazing piece depicts the iconic image of Mickey Mouse in the masterpiece Fantasia. This is a huge museum quality painting measuring 90″ x 71″, coming with the embossed C.O.A. In addition to the Britto collection, we also have a beautiful collection of Pietra Dura Italian inlaid stone plaques Lot #’s 171 – 175.These finely detailed handcrafted plaques feature images from a traditional Italian couple dancing to landscapes and still-life’s alike. All of which are exquisitely inlaid of fine stone. We are pleased to offer a wonderful example of Tiffany Studio desk accessories Lot #’s 125-133. It has become increasingly difficult to find these on the individual level. It is nearly impossible to have such a large grouping sold at once. The pattern is of a winding grape vine showcasing expertly pierced filigree detailing. Several of the pieces also come with the original glass slag inserts. Another interesting art glass lot which merits mentioning is a lovely Daum Pate de Verre art glass mythological themed ewer, Lot # 202. This charmingly colorful piece features a sea nymph gazing into the dolphin shaped bowl below her. Last but certainly not least I would like to make reference to another noteworthy lot. Lot # 7 is a gorgeous three piece antique French style Michel Claude Clodion figural bronze clock garniture set. The clock and both the candelabras are crafted out of bronze and deep red marble with a powerful grain. Featuring a cherub pulling the ear of Dionysus the Satyr.
